Role Summary:

Reporting to the Services & Networking Manager, the Network Engineer is responsible for working with our industrial manufacturing customers to troubleshoot, maintain, support, and assist in maturing and migrating plant network infrastructures.

Exciting work you will do:

The essential duties and responsibilities of the Network Engineer position will consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

Respond to technical service needs for networking and security devices, servers, and storage sub- systems at client locations

Develop scope of work and cost estimates for on-site customer work

Deliver services such as: network assessments, vendor assisted network designs, switch configurations, wireless surveys, and virtual environment installations

Interface with clients to perform additional onsite customer support which may include isolating and resolving technical issues, configuring or reconfiguring switches, routers, and firewalls, installs, moves, or other changes as identified for both the active and physical network hardware

Provide timely, professional documentation and record keeping of all work completed

Self‑cultivate opportunities for IT/Network services and follow through to completion

Provide pre‑sales support and backup to the Network Specialist

Continually learn new technologies and maintain industry knowledge

What you'll need:

Experience : 2 years' of experience in enterprise field service support role providing hardware and network support for clients

Education : Bachelor's degree in computer/network engineering, computer technology, information technology or Technology diploma in related field, or equivalent experience

Analytics/Computer Skills : Demonstrable skills in L2 & L3 switching and routing, VPNs, NAT, Virtualization; Ability to test and troubleshoot copper and fiber cabling; Ability to troubleshoot active network technology; Ability to apply basic design principles and layout architectures for customers

Organization Skills : Excellent work ethic; good verbal, time management and communication skills; ability to work independently and as a part of a team; strong analytical and problem solving skills

Cross‑functional skills : Ability to work effectively in a team environment; ability to engage with customers, build trusted relationships and develop ongoing work

Communication Skills : Strong interpersonal communications, analytical and problem solving, organizational and written/verbal communication skills

Physical Environment : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to temperature conditions prevalent at the time; the noise level in the work environment is consistent with that of a manufacturing company

Driver's License : Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license

Travel : 50‑70% local

Qualifications we prefer but don't require:

Experience : Understanding of Windows Active Directory; knowledge of inside plant networking / cabling; familiarity with Cisco & Rockwell Automation's Converged Plant Wide Ethernet (CPwE) Reference Architectures; general understanding of cybersecurity principles

Certifications : CCNA or CCNP; other Cisco, Dell, EMC, VMWare, and RCDD certifications
