Overview This is a strategic leadership position to serve as a Discipline Leader (DL) for Water Reuse Projects in our Water Reuse Community of Practice (COP). This DL will assist in developing creative approaches to the planning, design and delivery of drinking water and water reuse projects in the Southeast Region during both the pursuit and delivery phase of projects. The DL role also works alongside the Water Reuse strategy team to grow the firm’s technical luminescence in the industry, including professional society committee engagement and publishing paper abstracts or journal articles on drinking water and water reuse projects.

As a strategic member of the CDM Smith team, you will help with proper application of treatment related technology, grow our technical capabilities within the discipline, develop our team members who are passionate about reuse, and assist with sales and delivery growth. Working with Practice Leaders, other DLs, and engineering and construction leaders across the organization you will be empowered to deliver innovative solutions while interacting effectively with clients, project engineers, and vendors.

Responsibilities

Provides guidance and coordinates with other subject matter experts on the delivery of drinking water and water reuse projects.

Performs and coordinates quality checking of documents for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; ensures that firm policies and practices are followed.

Collaborates with the Water Reuse Practice Leader and sales staff to support proposals in response to RFPs; reviews draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations and best practices; meets with current and potential clients as needed to review their project needs.

Attends and presents at conferences, symposia, etc. to contribute to the technical luminescence and visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with PLs, DLs, and sales staff.

Provides technical guidance and training to senior, mid-level and junior staff working on reuse projects; mentors staff and develops them for future growth within the discipline and firm; supervises the work of engineers on project work and delegates as necessary.

Alternative delivery experience such as progressive design build is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.

Professional engineering (PE) license.

10 years of related experience.

Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.

Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Additional Qualifications & Skills

Expert Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.

Expert Knowledge of engineering principles of design.

Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).

Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Expert knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.
