Weekend Circulation Supervisor
Whitman College – located in Walla Walla, Washington.
Position Purpose At the direction of the Access Services Manager, the Circulation Supervisor is accountable for supervising Access and User Services during weekend hours of operation (Saturday 10 AM–6 PM; Sunday 10 AM–5 PM). This includes oversight of circulation, course reserves, stacks maintenance, interlibrary loan and resource sharing services. The Supervisor manages student Circulation Assistants, ensures library security and is responsible for opening and closing the facility. This part‑time position counts 0.25 FTE with 520 hours over the 9‑month academic year.
Principal Accountabilities
Public Services Supervision (30%)
– Review and provide feedback on policies, maintain a secure environment, resolve patron issues, and coordinate with Whitman Security and the Access Services Manager.
Access Services Operations Supervision (30%)
– Supervise Interlibrary Loan, Consortial Resource Sharing, and fulfillment operations; manage student worker schedules; train workers; create patron accounts and process payments.
Student Worker Supervision and Support (20%)
– Supervise and train student workers, monitor performance, provide feedback, and report patterns or issues to management.
Evolving Project Support and Maintenance (20%)
– Supervise, assign, and perform project work; maintain and develop relevant skills.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to positively and actively contribute to the college’s diverse community.
Knowledge of library circulation and interlibrary loan procedures.
Ability to supervise student workers and manage schedules.
Strong communication skills (in person, email, phone).
Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with library systems.
Compensation: $19.81–$20.04 per hour.
