Where You Will Work Sierrita operations is located approximately 20 miles from Tucson, Arizona. The mine training facility includes state‑of‑the‑art labs, classrooms, and advanced simulators. Employees may live in Green Valley, Sahuarita, or Tucson, enjoying local attractions and a mild climate.

Description Under limited supervision, the Candidate plans, organizes, manages, and evaluates designated engineering projects and programs, ensuring successful conclusion of all phases within appropriate time and cost.

Supervises, enhances, and monitors designated engineering practices for the site.

Reports environmental compliance issues and makes recommendations to site management for correction.

Supervises or reviews, investigates and develops recommendations for planned engineering projects.

Serves as Project Manager or technical expert on large and complex site construction, expansion, or modification projects.

Provides guidance and counsel to site management on applicable programs, practices, and local, state, and federal regulations.

Evaluates and administers contracts with vendors for provision of services and equipment.

Contributes to site strategic planning and budgeting for designated engineering areas.

Represents the site on company‑sponsored steering teams such as the Freeport‑McMoRan Environmental Steering Team.

Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree in Environmental Science or a closely related area (alternatively, an additional five years of experience in mining or mineral processing operations may substitute the degree).

15 years of experience in environmental monitoring, sampling and reporting as an Environmental Technician, Specialist, or related role.

Additional certifications or licensure may be required or preferred: HAZWOPER, Method 9, DOT, EMS auditor, Asbestos, Water Treatment Operator, CHMM.

Criteria/Conditions

Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety‑related instructions in English.

Ability to communicate in English regarding job assignments and safety standards.

Must be able to work in potentially stressful environments.

Work at a mine or manufacturing plant with exposure to temperature extremes, moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles.

Required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, and communicate verbally and visually.

Occasionally lift moderately heavy objects up to 30 pounds.

Personal protective equipment is required (hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, respirator, rubber steel‑toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, etc.).

Drug/alcohol‑free workplace with mandatory pre‑employment and random testing as required by state laws.

What We Offer You The estimated annual pay range for this role is $110,000–$155,000. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills, and other factors. This role is eligible for incentive compensation, including annual long‑term incentives.

What We Require

Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.

Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.

Employees may be required to work a non‑standard schedule, including shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365‑day operation.
