Overview Millennium Space Systems (MSS), a part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), seeks an experienced Autonomy Engineer to support the engineering team in El Segundo, CA. The role focuses on designing, analyzing, and developing mission Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) and enabling fault‑management and autonomy for satellites and constellations.
Position Responsibilities
Perform fault and autonomy requirements definition, verification, and validation.
Define satellite/constellation states, modes, transitions, and other autonomous spacecraft behaviors.
Contribute to architecture concepts, CONOPS, and technology trade‑off analyses.
Design and validate on‑board fault detection, isolation, and responses and perform end‑to‑end validation of autonomy products.
Support on‑console operations for on‑orbit missions.
Execute project‑management activities to deliver high‑quality work products on‑time.
Security Clearance & Export Control Position requires U.S. Security Clearance (TS/SCI) and must meet U.S. export‑control compliance. “U.S. Person” is defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 (or 120.62 in other parts).
Basic Qualifications
2+ years of experience in satellite design and/or operation.
Familiarity with analysis tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Python, STK, etc.
Strong critical‑thinking, troubleshooting, and attention to detail.
Ability to anticipate system interactions across complex systems.
Eligibility to obtain U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of experience in satellite design and/or operation.
Experience with fault‑management strategies/architectures for mission‑critical systems.
Experience with autonomous system design and analysis.
Experience planning and executing integrated system fault‑management and autonomy V&V.
Experience with end‑to‑end satellite testing.
Active TS/SCI clearance.
Additional Information
Shift: 1st Shift.
Location: El Segundo, CA (100% onsite).
Relocation assistance not available; visa sponsorship not offered.
Pay Range (Level 3): $104,550 – $153,750.
