Position Summary:

A Medical Laboratory Scientist (Chemical Laboratory) performs a wide range of analytical tests on body fluids and specimens to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases.

Responsibilities

Processes and evaluates specimens and performs appropriate tests to assist with detection, diagnosis, and treatment.

Records and evaluates daily, weekly, and monthly quality control issues in assigned areas for further review by the supervisor.

Maintains safe work practices, follows all regulatory requirements and engages supervisor, manager, or director as appropriate.

Assists with day-to-day operations of assigned section in Core Lab.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Sciences

OR

an approved ASCP discipline (30 semester hours in biology and chemistry, which may be obtained within, or in addition to, the Bachelor's).

ASCP or another accrediting agency certified or eligible (Certification must be obtained within one year of employment).

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous clinical laboratory experience

ASCP certification

Hazards: Biological, Chemical, Dust, Electrical, Fumes/Gases/Odors, Radiation, Sharp objects/tools

Salary Commensurate with education and experience.
