Job Summary CCI Automation is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Building Automation Programmer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and implement control systems in various commercial and industrial HVAC equipment. This role requires a strong field background and familiarity with the general principles of automation engineering and system design. This role will largely be responsible for supporting all efforts associated with installation, programming, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting aspects of Building Automation Systems (BAS). This position will work closely with the Building Automation Manager and Field team members to ensure that all systems operate efficiently and effectively, with an emphasis on optimal energy usage, comfort, and safety for occupants. The Automation Controls Technician is responsible for start-up and commissioning of building HVAC automation and control systems, may also respond to service requests and Service Dispatch, and is expected to maintain positive customer relationships.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Create control algorithms, download source code to controllers, manage system databases, and implement an animated front-end graphical user interface.
Experience in multiple systems integration, getting different protocols to talk to each other and share information.
One front end for multiple platforms.
Install, configure and commission building automation systems (BAS).
Customer-focused mindset that promotes positive interactions with our growing client base.
Perform and/or assist field operations in regular maintenance, inspections, and calibration of building systems to ensure proper functionality.
Mentor the Field Automation team to ensure compliance with all company, client safety and technical training requirements.
Provide technical support and training to the Building Automation team.
Troubleshoot and repair building automation system malfunctions.
Monitor system performance and analyze data to identify opportunities for energy efficiency improvements and system optimization.
Update and maintain system software and firmware, as required.
Respond to service calls for BAS issues, when required.
Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations, including safety requirements.
Provide training and support to building staff on the operation of BAS systems.
Document all maintenance, repairs, and system modifications in accordance with company policies.
Work collaboratively with other team members, including engineers, project managers, and contractors, to complete installations and projects on time.
Remotely access client control systems to monitor, service & troubleshoot.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or equivalent OR 3 years of equivalent professional experience.
Proven experience as a Building Automation Technician.
Strong knowledge of HVAC and building automation systems.
Familiarity with BAS protocols such as BACnet and Modbus.
Proficient in troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical and mechanical issues.
Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints, diagrams, and technical manuals.
Background in JCI platforms preferred.
Experience acting in a team leader role that supports, trains, and mentors less experienced automation professionals.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to stay updated with industry trends and new technologies.
OSHA 10 Certification.
