Accounting Manager – Government Contract Support (Consultant Role)
Location: Lake County, IL (Hybrid options may be considered)
Contract Type: Consultant / Temporary Assignment
Industry: Government Contracting / Food & Logistics Services
Pay Rate: $40 -$45/hour
Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional with experience in government contracts? Jefferson Wells is supporting our client in this critical role to ensure compliance with a large-scale federal contract.
Key Responsibilities
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
Manage tri-monthly billing packets and A/R invoicing.
Deliver monthly and annual financial reports.
Develop annual budgets, cost proposals, and quarterly forecasts.
Ensure accurate invoicing via the Wide Area Work Flow (WAWF) system.
Supervise accounts payable functions.
Validate and process bi-weekly staffing agency payroll invoices.
Create and maintain financial reports and spreadsheets for internal departments.
Perform other duties as assigned to support contract compliance and financial operations.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Proven experience managing billing cycles and government invoicing.
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and financial modeling.
Familiarity with federal contracts, especially in food procurement or logistics.
Experience with WAWF, D365, or Prophix is a plus.
Understanding of federal audit processes and compliance standards.
Leadership capability and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
