Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced DeltaV Engineer to design, implement, and support advanced automation solutions for the life sciences industry. This role involves configuring Emerson DeltaV control systems, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality automation for biopharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing. The position requires both technical expertise and strong problem-solving skills, with opportunities for professional growth on impactful projects.
Responsibilities
Design, configure, and implement Emerson DeltaV control systems in alignment with customer specifications and industry standards
Develop and program DeltaV batch processes in compliance with ISA-88 standards
Engineer system architecture, instrument specifications, and control strategies to optimize manufacturing operations
Configure controllers, HMIs, historian systems, and applications in accordance with GAMP 5, cGMP, and 21 CFR Part 11 regulations
Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) to validate system performance
Provide on-site startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting for deployed systems
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical, process, validation, and project engineering groups
Ensure adherence to system development life cycle and validation documentation requirements
Mentor junior engineers and technicians, fostering technical knowledge and professional growth
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
7 years of experience in automation and control engineering, with extensive hands-on work in Emerson DeltaV design, implementation, and configuration
Strong knowledge of ISA-88 batch processing and DeltaV batch configuration
Experience conducting FAT, SAT, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities
Familiarity with automation protocols including Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Profibus, OPC, Foundation Fieldbus, and HART
Background in life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or medical device environments
Knowledge of GAMP 5, cGMP, and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements
Strong communication skills for technical collaboration and documentation
Ability to work independently or as part of a team on complex automation projects
Willingness to travel up to 25% and support extended hours or weekends when required
Education and/or Experience
Bachelors degree in engineering or related technical field required
7 years of professional experience with automation and DeltaV systems
Nice to Have
Knowledge of historian systems, alarm management, and advanced control strategies
Familiarity with industrial networking between controllers, servers, and HMIs
Exposure to Rockwell Automation, Siemens PCS7, or other DCS/SCADA platforms
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and electrical design principles
Experience with loop tuning and process control optimization
Previous mentoring experience with junior engineers or technicians
Experience translating functional specifications into detailed software designs
