The Department of Neurology at Tulane University School of Medicine seeks to hire an Epilepsy/EEG neurologist. The clinical practice sites will include East Jefferson Hospital in Metairie, LA and University Medical Center New Orleans (UMCNO). Responsibilities will include an outpatient subspecialty practice dedicated to epilepsy, and rotating in the EEG (reading of ambulatory, inpatient, and home studies) and EMU call pool.

East Jefferson General Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital that was formed in 1965, opened its doors in 1971 and in 2020 joined LCMC Health, an eight-hospital system serving the healthcare needs of the Gulf Coast region. It is the clinical home for Tulane University School of Medicine and has become an expanded hub for specialty care, advanced treatment, and academic medicine. The 420‑bed hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and is Louisiana’s first Nurse Magnet hospital. It is an outpatient practice site for Tulane Neurosciences. The inpatient neuroscience services include a comprehensive stroke center and a neurocritical care service (both Tulane operated).

UMCNO is a 446‑bed, non‑profit, public, research and academic hospital located in New Orleans, Louisiana, providing tertiary and level I trauma care for the region. The hospital is operated by the LCMC Health and is the largest hospital in the system. UMCNO is affiliated with Tulane University School of Medicine and LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans, as well as several other healthcare degree‑conferring institutions in the region. The inpatient neuroscience services at UMCNO currently include a catheter‑ready stroke service (Tulane operated), a neurocritical care service (LSU and Tulane jointly operated), an expanding Epilepsy Monitoring service (to be LSU and Tulane jointly operated) and two general neurology consulting services (Tulane and LSU separately operated). In addition, UMCNO is the outpatient practice site for our Neurology Residents’ Clinic and for the multidisciplinary Healthy Brain Aging Initiative (prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative disorders).

The mission of the Department of Neurology at Tulane is to teach, to innovate, and to care. Our vision is to lead change in academic neurology from survivorship to thriver‑ship, creating a culture of joy. The Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery at Tulane have partnered to create and co‑lead the Center for Clinical Neurosciences, with a combined 31 employed faculty. Through our partnership with the LSU Department of Neurology and community neurology partners, Tulane Neurology and the LCMC Health neuroscience service line aspire to developing an academic Epilepsy Center of Excellence to serve greater New Orleans, Louisiana, and the Gulf Coast and South‑Central US regions.
