Job Summary The Medical Assistant works under the direction of the Physician, Clinical Lead, Clinical Nurse Supervisor, Nurse Supervisor and/or Office Manager. The role includes patient recognition, care coordination, preparation of exams, assistance during treatments, coordination of tests, and documentation in the medical record. Duties also involve front office registration, laboratory testing, and radiology functions within a specialty setting.

Core Responsibilities And Essential Functions

Register patient upon entrance to facility and perform all necessary registration operations.

Prepare equipment and rooms; assist physicians with patient treatment and perform vitals.

Rotate among clinical service areas such as lab, x‑ray, and front office.

Perform diagnostic imaging procedures, ensuring proper technique and radiation protection.

Process images, review quality, and maintain logs, reports, and documentation.

Perform laboratory tests, draw blood, conduct point‑of‑care testing, and maintain daily logs.

Provide patient‑centered liaison care, adapt delivery to cultural diversity, and collaborate in interdisciplinary rounds.

Coordinate safe quality patient care, maintain timely documentation, and promote a respectful, inclusive environment.

Complete professional development requirements, serve as a preceptor if needed, and support evidence‑based practice initiatives.

Plan resources, participate in protocol development, and support efficient use of personnel and equipment.

Comply with all Wellstar policies, standards, and code of conduct.

Required Minimum Education

High School Diploma or GED.

Medical Assisting certificate.

Required Minimum License(s) And Certification(s)

Certified Medical Assistant.

Basic Life Support (BLS) – Instructor.

Additional License(s) And Certification(s)

Phlebotomy certification preferred within 60 days.

OSHA training for radiology equipment operators within 60 days.

Medical Assistant credentialing exam (AAMA, AMT) upon hire required.

Required Minimum Experience

Work experience in a practice setting preferred.

Radiology experience preferred; training provided within first 60 days.

Required Minimum Skills

Organized, detail‑oriented, fast‑efficient work style.

Strong verbal and written English communication.

Basic computer proficiency and technology use.

Adherence to WellStar Credo and Code of Conduct.
