Sign‑On Bonus:
We are offering a $5,000 sign‑on bonus for new Rental Field Service Technicians. $2,500 is payable after 90 days of employment, and the remaining $2,500 after 180 days.

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington, D.C., is hiring a Rental Field Service Technician in District Heights, Maryland.
The Rental Field Service Technician applies advanced‑level mechanical aptitude to perform maintenance and repairs on Caterpillar and allied rental equipment in the shop and at customer job sites. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, determining proper repair procedures, and preparing parts requisitions.
Qualifications
Minimum of three years experience performing advanced‑level mechanical service and repairs on Caterpillar and related equipment.
High school diploma or GED required.
Thorough knowledge of engines, transmissions, electrical and other related components to troubleshoot and analyze high‑level problems quickly.
Advanced‑level mechanical aptitude.
Able to repair Caterpillar and allied components and machines.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Professional interaction with customers; strong communication skills.
Self‑directed and well organized; ability to prioritize workload while providing excellent customer service.
Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new knowledge.
Proficiency in technical software, databases, and manuals.
Excellent driving record required; ability to obtain a CDL and/or DOT certification.
Willingness to work additional hours as needed to meet business and customer demands.

Physical Requirements Physical demands of the role include the ability to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently sits. Regular lifting or carrying of up to 70 pounds is required. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Compensation Starting compensation: $32.34–$45.35 per hour. Actual base salary may vary based on experience, skills, qualifications, education, location, and other business factors. In addition to base salary, compensation may include incentive programs tied to performance.
