Job Title: Registered Dietician (000359)
Monitors patients for and provides education on food/drug interactions. Records food and drug interactions in the education section. Consults with physicians regarding appropriate diet modification.
Job Responsibilities
Screen and assess patients in an accurate and timely manner based on levels of care; determine patients' nutritional needs and status and provide follow-up care.
Interview patients and/or their families to obtain history of food habits and preferences.
Interpret pertinent laboratory, physical and social data in the medical record, as it applies to nutrition care.
Provide nutrition education and record patient's diet and diet instructions and the patient's understanding of the diet in the education section.
Modify patient menus as needed.
Skills & Experience
Minimal one (1) year of experience.
Preferred two (2) years of experience.
Education
Graduate from accredited college/university with a degree in Dietetics or Foods and Nutrition.
Preferred Master's degree.
Certifications & Licensure
For post-acute locations: New York State Certification, issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a “Dietitian-Nutritionist”.
For Acute locations: Registration by the Commissions on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian Primary Source Verification.
Preferred AHA BLS.
Special Note for Dietitians assigned to Post-Acute Care (Long-Term Care) facility: Under the Medicare and Medicaid Programs, Reform of Requirements for Long-Term Care Facilities, as outlined in Section 483.60 of Title 42 of the Code of Federal Regulations all newly-hired Dietitians, assigned to a Post-Acute Care (Long-Term Care) facility, are required to have New York State Certification, issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED), as a “Dietitian-Nutritionist” at the time of hire.
Schedule Notes Holiday and weekend coverage as needed. Shift Time: 8:30 AM-5:00 PM
