Low Voltage Cabling Department Manager
Job Summary
The Department Manager will supervise and direct the work activities of their team, ensuring efficient staffing, materials, financial, customer care, and delivery goals for the low voltage cabling department.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Recruit, hire, train, manage, supervise, promote, discipline, and discharge department staff as needed.
Manage human resources issues per company policies; recommend performance ratings, promotions, and pay changes.
Provide guidance and mentoring to meet department goals.
Distribute workload among staff and plan for project profitability.
Manage scopes of work including structured cable, audio‑visual, security, life safety, estimating, or BIM.
Participate in bid process and facilitate it.
Handle quality and safety issues on customer work.
Serve as company liaison with customer representatives.
Create and implement process improvements.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Self‑motivated, professional leader who promotes company culture.
Strong problem‑solving, critical thinking, written and oral communication skills.
Proficient in interpreting blueprints, specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
Willingness to travel within branch or regional territories.
Ability to learn company and customer project management systems.
Must possess a Company‑sponsored American Express Card.
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements
High School diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
Experience in customer interface with liaison responsibilities.
Minimum 7 years supervisory/managerial experience.
Minimum 5 years in telecommunications or related technical/construction field.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project).
Meet company minimum driving standards.
Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects concurrently.
Experience supervising exempt and non‑exempt direct reports.
Demonstrated ability to define, scope, and manage projects to completion.
