About the Company This organization is a

high-end, rapidly expanding grocery concept

generating approximately

$20M in annual revenue . The company is scaling across multiple locations and is focused on operational excellence, disciplined financial controls, and strong infrastructure to support continued growth.

This role reports directly to the

CFO / Owner

and supervises an

in-store Accounts Payable Clerk and store-level accounting support .

Position Overview The Senior Accountant will lead

day-to-day accounting operations

at the store level, oversee cash flow and AP functions, support

construction accounting for new store buildouts , and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting. This role requires strong hands‑on accounting expertise, operational discipline, and experience supporting

multi‑location retail growth . The ideal candidate brings direct experience in

grocery or retail accounting

and has hands‑on knowledge of

Sage Intacct and/or NetSuite

to support scalable financial operations.

Key Responsibilities Daily Accounting Operations

Oversee daily store-level financial operations, ensuring

accurate capture of sales, expenses, inventory activity , and operational metrics.

Monitor POS integrations, merchant services deposits, and sales reconciliations.

Review daily cash reports, bank activity, and variances; investigate discrepancies promptly.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date

general ledger activity .

Accounts Payable Oversight

Supervise the in-store AP Clerk, ensuring proper invoice coding, vendor setup, approvals, and

timely payments .

Review AP aging weekly and elevate issues impacting cash flow.

Reconcile vendor statements monthly; ensure credits and rebates are recorded correctly.

Enforce disciplined purchasing, approval, and documentation workflows.

Construction Accounting (New Store Buildouts)

Maintain

job‑cost accounting

for new locations, tracking budgets, commitments, and actuals.

Process construction invoices, lien waivers, change orders, and WIP schedules.

Coordinate with general contractors, architects, and internal stakeholders.

Support capex reporting, spend forecasting, and documentation for lenders, landlords, and investors.

Cash Flow Management

Prepare

daily cash flow forecasts

incorporating AP, payroll timing, deposits, and operating needs.

Monitor liquidity and proactively advise leadership on cash requirements.

Recommend cash optimization strategies aligned with inventory and purchasing cycles.

Month‑End Close & Financial Reporting

Partner with the outside accounting firm to close books by the

15th of each month .

Prepare and review supporting schedules including accruals, prepaids, AP, AR, inventory, fixed assets, and job cost.

Perform and review key reconciliations (bank, credit cards, inventory, balance sheet accounts).

Assist with monthly financial statements and

variance analysis .

Inventory & Cost Controls

Oversee weekly and monthly inventory counts; validate shrink, spoilage, waste, and adjustments.

Monitor

COGS trends, margins, and purchasing patterns .

Partner with department managers to strengthen controls around receiving, pricing, and stock management.

Process Improvement & Internal Controls

Implement consistent accounting procedures across current and future store locations.

Strengthen internal controls over cash handling, purchasing, receiving, and inventory.

Document workflows and train staff on accounting best practices.

Skills & Qualifications Required Skills

5–10 years of accounting experience, ideally in

grocery, retail, hospitality, or multi‑unit operations

Hands‑on experience with

Sage Intacct and/or NetSuite

(configuration, workflows, reporting, integrations)

Strong general ledger, AP oversight, and month‑end close experience

Construction accounting or

job‑costing

experience

Advanced Excel skills and comfort with POS and inventory systems

Preferred Skills

CPA designation (not required)

Experience supporting rapid growth or new location expansion

Exposure to lender or investor reporting

Additional Qualifications

Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills

Ability to work

on‑site daily

in a fast‑paced retail environment

High integrity, attention to detail, and an ownership mindset
