We are seeking a dedicated Patient Care Technician to provide nonprofessional direct and indirect patient care, supporting registered professional nurses and licensed medical staff. The role involves personal, physical, and comfort needs of patients while maintaining a safe, clean environment.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior patient care experience.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
Observe and report patient concerns/changes to a registered nurse immediately.
Assist the RN with admission, transfer, discharge, and general patient care duties.
Record vital signs; assist with personal hygiene, oral intake/outputs, and other monitoring.
Assist with specimen collection and related patient activities.
Maintain a clean, safe environment to prevent/control infections and ensure safety of patients, visitors, and staff.
Report equipment repairs to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
Prepare patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures per departmental procedure.
Communicate with RN regarding nutrition issues such as poor appetite or diet changes.
Support department with administrative tasks.
Answer patient call bell and relay messages to appropriate personnel.
Additional Requirements for Specialty Accreditation
Complete annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards (CBL, trainings, in‑services, competency validation).
Physical Requirements
Heavy/hard work: lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking.
Working Environment
Work closely with others.
Time flexible, including protracted or irregular hours.
Exposure to biohazards and infectious diseases.
Exposure to deceased patients.
Hands in water and electrical hazards associated with patient care equipment.
Skills and Abilities
Effective communication with staff and patients.
Adaptability to changing environments.
