Salary range: See Table 18 for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $20.40 - $21.28 per hour.
Percent time: Fall / Spring - up to 50%; Summer - up to 100%.
Anticipated start: Fall - August 2025; Spring - January 2026; Summer - June 2026.

Position Description The School of Natural Sciences anticipates hiring Readers for Academic Year 2025-2026 and Summer 2026 for the Chemistry & Biochemistry Department.
The Reader will be responsible for grading homework, quizzes and tests as needed. The Reader will work closely with the instructor and or Teaching Assistants when grading. It is anticipated that readers will work up to a maximum of 18 hours per week.
Interested applicants are required to submit a copy of undergraduate transcripts.
The University of California Readers are represented by the UAW-AFL-CIO.
Basic Qualifications The Reader must be an active UC Merced student in good standing and have successfully completed course or related course he/she is appointed to as a reader with at least a B Grade. Readers should have maintained at least a 3.0 grade-point average in their previous academic work.

Authorization to Release Information Form – As a condition of employment, the finalist will be required to disclose if they are subject to any final administrative or judicial decisions within the last seven years determining that they committed any misconduct. Misconduct means any violation of the policies or laws governing conduct at the applicant's previous place of employment, including, but not limited to, violations of policies or laws prohibiting sexual harassment, sexual assault, or other forms of harassment or discrimination, as defined by the employer.
