Overview Relationship Bankers are responsible for identifying customer needs and matching them with the appropriate bank products and services to enhance a current or prospective customer’s satisfaction, loyalty, and financial well‑being. By using proactive sales and service efforts and recognizing referral opportunities, Relationship Bankers deepen customer relationships while processing a variety of cash and non‑cash transactions.
Responsibilities
Identify customer needs and make the appropriate referrals through proactive sales/service efforts.
Service, sell, and cross‑sell deposit accounts, loan products, insurance products, cash management services, etc.
Deliver exceptional customer experience that follows Trustmark’s service standards.
Safeguard the bank’s assets and ensure security of the working environment while processing transactions accurately (deposits, withdrawals, wire transfers, loan payments, and the opening/closing of customer accounts).
Balance cash drawer daily and ensure appropriate documents have been executed.
Achieve sales and referral goals quarterly while providing excellent customer service and leveraging opportunities to transform service into sales.
Make outreach calls to customers and/or prospects.
Comply with the bank’s guidelines, policies, procedures, and performance standards.
Coach and mentor Relationship Bankers and Tellers.
Review and approve various transactions, including night drop contracts/logs, ATM deposits, collection items, money orders, official checks, and cash drawers.
Handle the cash shipment and vault management for a branch.
Originate consumer loans.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
2 years face‑to‑face customer service experience, retail sales experience, or prior Trustmark Relationship Banker experience with a demonstrated track record of exceeding individual performance goals.
Ability to learn Trustmark consumer and/or mortgage lending guidelines and process applicable loans within 2 years of employment.
Ability to register with the National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS).
Proficiency in basic math concepts and routine transaction handling, including cash drawer closing.
Exceptional customer service skills and ability to learn and communicate Trustmark products.
Pass appropriate assessment tests related to customer service and math skills.
Capability to meet sales goals in a retail environment.
Basic computer skills and the ability to learn internal technology systems.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
Time‑management skills.
Detail‑oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy.
Professional appearance and mannerisms suitable for daily interactions with the public.
Preferred
Prior supervisory experience in a retail or bank environment.
Prior experience processing consumer or mortgage loans.
2 years of banking industry knowledge specifically of the Relationship Banker position.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions Must be able to sit or stand for long periods, use a computer keyboard and/or mouse, and view computer screens. Must be able to lift at least 20 pounds to process boxed or bagged coins.
