Position Overview Davey Resource Group, a Davey Company, is a leader in the natural resource and forestry consulting industries throughout the United States. This position offers an opportunity for an experienced Environmental Scientist/Restoration Specialist to work on projects that support government, utility, commercial, private, and not‑for‑profit clients in managing natural resources and complying with environmental policies.
Job Duties
Provide services and solutions to efficiently manage natural resources and meet client compliance requirements.
Collaborate with a team, provide leadership and training on all aspects of field work, and communicate professionally with clients.
Perform invasive plant species control, native plant and seed installation, shoreline stabilization, and native habitat restoration (prairie, wetland, and woodland).
Carry out stormwater BMP inspection and maintenance, as well as wetland delineation and city tree inventories when required.
Work outdoors in varied conditions, often in inclement weather and rugged terrain; operate heavy equipment such as spray rigs, backpack sprayers, augers, chainsaws, mowers, and more.
Assist team members by training and mentoring on field techniques and safety procedures.
Help the project manager understand client contract needs and develop appropriate solutions.
Inspect a wide range of natural and disturbed habitats, assessing condition, health, and functionality per client specifications.
Identify local species, understand their characteristics, and recognize common diseases and pests.
Qualifications
Possession of a Minnesota Department of Agriculture Certified Pesticide Applicator’s License.
Prescribed burn experience and S130/S190 certification.
Experience identifying invasive species across various habitats.
Training with chainsaws, brush saws, 4x4 ATV/UTV, tractor, and skid steer.
A degree in biology, botany, ecology, conservation, environmental science, or a related field.
Three to five years of experience in ecological restoration.
Driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Ability and willingness to travel.
Desired Qualifications
Natural resource consulting experience preferred.
Experience operating heavy equipment such as forestry mowers and tractors preferred.
Ability to read construction plans and specifications to assign tasks to crew members preferred.
CDL Class A Driver license preferred.
Experience leading crews of 1‑4 people.
Additional Information
40–50 hours per week, Monday‑Friday with some Saturdays optional.
Starting hourly wage: $21–$25 per hour based on experience.
Travel expectations: up to 50% of the time.
