Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare patient for examination by recording vitals, medical history, and chief complaint.

Administer injections, medications, vaccines, and IVs as directed by providers and within the scope of licensure.

Perform laboratory tests (including point-of-care phlebotomy, specimen collection, and diagnostic tests) as directed by providers and within the scope of licensure.

Communicate test results, follow-up instructions, and address patient questions and concerns in a timely manner according to clinic policy.

Under the supervision of the psychiatric provider, meet with patients for medication management.

Assure patient understanding of appropriate educational materials regarding medications, diagnosis, and treatment plan.

Meet with patients in a crisis or urgent situation until psychiatric provider is able to evaluate them.

Use restraints safely and according to hospital policy.

Conduct groups on anxiety, grief, stress, etc.

Respond to emergency medical situations in an urgent manner and perform on-the-spot emergency assistance which may include first aid and/or CPR.

Clinical Support

Assist providers with examinations and procedures.

Prepare examination and procedure rooms with necessary sanitation procedures and supplies.

Use clinical judgment to assess patients’ health status in person or via phone, and recommend clinic and/or emergency room visit as appropriate.

Collaborate with team members and other providers to ensure all patient‑care and administrative duties are completed in a timely manner.

Travel to other clinics to provide support as directed by clinic leadership.

Administrative

Answer patient phone calls and facilitate communication between patient and provider.

Complete messages and tasks as assigned in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.

Schedule follow‑up appointments and procedures and submit referrals as directed by providers.

Complete prior authorizations for procedures and medications as required.

Assist with maintaining an inventory of supplies.

General Duties

Maintain friendly and courteous interpersonal communication skills and a positive service attitude.

Participate in performance improvement and educational activities. Complete all CEU’s as required by respective licensure. If licensed, maintain an active and current license.

Attend all mandatory meetings and programs.

Participate in opportunities that enhance personal and professional growth.

Perform other duties as necessary or assigned.

Comply with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agree to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.

Comply with all applicable state and federal regulations and JCAHO standards.

Maintain a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.

Maintain the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities, however, may assist physician with special unit procedures and provide training, education, and guidance to assigned L.P.N.s, C.M.A.s, and/or C.N.A.s. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the department Director, organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications Education And/or Experience

Registered Nurse (RN) with state license required; current license to practice nursing in the state.

Two years of experience as a professional nurse in a clinic setting preferred.

Position Requirements, Licenses, Certifications, Registrations

Basic Life Support certification.

Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) certification within 6 months of hire.

ACLS within 6 months of hire.

Ability to create a caring, compassionate relationship with the patients and families.

Ability to collaborate with the healthcare team to use evidence-based practice in providing care.

Expertise in handling sophisticated medical equipment.

Must possess effective time management skills.

Ability to carry out assignments with minimal supervision and guidance.

Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, business correspondence, and understand procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, patients, families and the general public.
