Job Description The Registered Nurse manages individualized, goal‑directed nursing care through the nursing process and principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures. This position provides care and education for patients based on their illness, symptoms, and treatment courses. The RN delivers quality care in designated areas of surgical services, meeting standards set by state and regulatory agencies, and facility policies. Responsibilities include performing technical skills and supporting surgeons, anesthesia personnel, and other professionals, maintaining knowledge and skills for both general and surgical nursing practice, promoting teamwork across the surgical team and other departments, and managing supplies and equipment effectively.
Responsibilities
Assess and diagnose patient and family needs to provide quality care to assigned patients.
Develop, discuss, and communicate a realistic problem list (plan of care) in collaboration with patient/family/significant other.
Implement medical plan of care and nursing interventions and procedures as necessary.
Evaluate identified problems, care provided, and patient responses, reassessing to meet needs and ensure quality care.
Maintain up‑to‑date and accurate documentation of nursing care.
Maintain current knowledge, certification, and licensure.
Perform all responsibilities duties defined in the scope of service, addressing the unique nature of each client.
Maintain supplies/inventory for the department.
May serve as charge nurse for on‑call situations, holiday coverage, or as needed.
Assist in other duties to support operational needs.
May remain on campus during severe weather or disasters.
Qualifications
Registered Nurse license.
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS).
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor.
