Radiology Technologist – Bridge Program to Multi-Modality

The Radiology Technologist assists physicians and performs radiological, paramedical, and clerical duties required in the care and assistance of patients. The Technologist works under the direction of the Radiology Supervisor and physicians and is primarily responsible for helping with the daily operations of the Radiology department.
Duties
Prepares room, equipment, contrast media, and materials as needed for procedures.
Maintains a clean and stocked X‑ray procedure room on a daily basis.
Warms X‑ray equipment daily and ensures proper function, notifying the appropriate person if equipment fails.
Prepares patients for X‑ray procedures, explains procedures, transfers patients to the examination table, positions them correctly, and assists patients at the end of the procedure.
Sends images to PACS promptly and verifies all are available for timely interpretation.
Performs general clerical and transportation duties when needed to fulfill department workload.
Practices patient care according to ARMC policy.
Assists radiologists during procedures and takes films as requested.
Familiar with proper sequence of scheduling exams for the Radiology department.
Considers age‑related factors when obtaining images or performing diagnostic or therapeutic imaging studies for patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics.
Accepts additional work during periods of low patient activity and demonstrates willingness to assist others in the department.
Maintains confidentiality and privacy of all data, records, reports, and procedures, and any other information regarding customer relations of Aiken Regional Medical Centers at all times.
Knows and implements radiation safety procedures when working with radiation‑producing equipment at all times.
Maintains universal protocol measurements and ensures patient charges are recorded accurately in the EHR.
Assists the physician in responding to and managing all emergency situations.
Operates portable X‑ray and C‑Arm machines to complete imaging in inpatient and operating room settings.
Attends all monthly staff meetings unless absent from work or excused by the Radiology Supervisor.
Obtains and documents verbal and telephone orders per facility policy (applicable to ARRT‑licensed staff).
Rotates to other imaging departments as needed and participates in holiday and on‑call rotation requirements.

Qualifications
Education:
Successful completion of a radiological program or equivalent military training.
Work experience:
BLS (or obtained within 90 days of employment).
Licenses / Certifications / Courses:
Current ARRT and South Carolina license or temporary B license issued by the SC Radiation Quality Standards Association.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Current RT registration or eligibility with successful completion within 90 days.
