PetVet Care Centers' Kleinpeter Veterinary Hospital is seeking a dedicated technician to support our veterinary team and elevate pet care across our network.
Position Overview
Provide dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service to patients and clients.
Conduct patient examinations, determine animal requirements, and complete laboratory tests and diagnostics.
Assist during surgeries and operations, including instrument preparation and patient restraint.
Administer medications, vaccines, and bandages; record vital signs and treatments.
Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments, cleaning and disinfecting patient areas.
Update and manage medical records and patient databases accurately.
Comply with controlled drug regulations and document drug administration.
Ensure a safe, secure, and humane environment, including inventory management.
Communicate with owners regarding patient status as directed by the veterinarian.
Maintain equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and arrange for repairs.
Participate in continuing education and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Determine animal requirements by conducting examinations and interviews, reviewing care plans, completing laboratory studies, and performing diagnostic imaging.
Collect samples, administer medications and vaccines, and perform wound care.
Assist patient examinations and operations by assembling supplies, securing patients, and restraining as directed by the veterinarian.
Maintain patient records, documenting conditions, reactions, and changes; update the database in a timely manner.
Enforce medication protocols, including log‑keeping and secure storage of controlled substances.
Ensure patients have food and water, clean rooms, cages, and equipment; observe for clinical signs.
Sanitize and disinfect holding and operating areas; store sterile supplies per standards.
Release pets to owners when directed, ensuring cleanliness and grooming.
Follow oral and written directions and perform additional duties as assigned.
Schedule
7:00 am to 5:30 pm, Thursday to Sunday.
Rotating weekends and some holidays required.
Qualifications (Required)
High school diploma or GED.
At least 1 year of experience collecting patient histories, performing diagnostics, assisting in surgery, and restraining animals.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
Certification as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT, LVMT) or equivalence per state law.
Demonstrated compassion, teamwork, reliability, initiative, flexibility, and communication.
Strong organizational skills and adherence to procedures.
