The

Transportation Business Unit

is seeking a

Construction Inspector

based in

Boise or Pocatello, ID . This position will provide on‑site construction inspection and applicable documentation for transportation projects, including observation of construction work activities for compliance with plans and specifications, preparation of required contract documentation, and following prescribed QA/QC procedures. Depending on background and skills, there may also be opportunities in project design during the non‑construction season.

What You’ll Do

Coordinate, perform, or supervise technical engineering work in the field or office.

Inspect, observe and ensure a construction project is constructed in accordance with contract plans and specifications.

Maintain accurate daily record of the work (labor, equipment, materials, quantities).

Identify contract change orders and assist in their preparation/implementation.

Communicate effectively with contractors, owners, construction managers, project documentation engineers, or other field engineering staff.

Prepare field note records for progress payments.

Coordinate required materials sampling and testing.

Required Qualifications

Good knowledge of the practices used and the equipment required on construction projects.

Basic computer skills in Word and Excel.

Ability to work effectively with client representatives, contractors, the public, as well as peers and subordinates.

Excellent skill in working independently.

Ability to effectively multitask and prioritize and track construction issues through to completion.

Minimum 2 years of construction inspection experience on roadway, bridge, rail, and highway projects preferred.

Clean driving record.

Available to work out of town when needed.

Preferred Qualifications

ITD inspection experience and ITD inspector certifications.

ODOT and WSDOT certifications also considered.

Experience with ProjectWise and AASHTOWare.

Potential salary range: $28.00/hr – $40.00/hr. The posted salary range represents the typical range for this position and is provided in accordance with applicable state and local pay transparency laws. Actual compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and geographic location.

Potential office locations include: Boise, ID; Pocatello, ID.
