Production Associate (Cylinder Filler) Location: Youngstown, OH - Retail shop

Pay: $22-24 hr

Position Overview Airgas is hiring a Production Associate in Moraine, OH to safely handle and fill gas products into liquid, medical, and high‑pressure gas cylinders in compliance with federal, state, local regulations and Airgas standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

Inspect cylinders before filling, following government, Airgas, and distributor procedures; conduct safety checks such as odor tests, valve checks, and check product purity and correct mixtures.

Handle high‑pressure, medical, and liquid cylinders; prepare high‑pressure cylinders and cryogenic vessels for filling; attach to manifold, evacuate cylinders to eliminate contaminants; fill cylinders by pressure and weight per regulations and standards.

Assist with loading and unloading cylinders on and off pallets and tractor trailers; operate a forklift, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment.

Manage paperwork for DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas standards; complete quality control sheets as required.

Understand hazards of various gases; read and interpret cylinder labels and color‑coding; accurately label cylinders.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education

HS diploma or equivalent (preferred).

Required Experience

Minimum of one year of prior experience in a manufacturing operation, filling or loading experience preferred.

Strong background in gas, welding, safety supply, or chemical industry preferred.

Skills & Abilities

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets.

Ability to work with a diverse range of people.

Excellent customer service skills.

Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.

Strong attention to detail.

Basic arithmetic skills in multiple units of measure.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.

Ability to safely operate a forklift.

Physical Demands

Able to talk, walk, sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crawl or crouch.

Specific vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, focus.

Regularly required to stand, bend, stoop, crouch, reach, grasp, feel, talk or hear.

Able to smell and hear leaking gas from cylinders.

Occasionally required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, feel or use a calculator or computer; and reach with hands and arms.

Regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds; move up to 800 pounds with material‑handling equipment.

Work Environment

Minimal travel required.

Workspace contains moving mechanical parts and risk of electric shock.

Requires both indoor and outdoor environments in various seasonal weather conditions; must work in temperatures ranging from -10 to over 100 degrees.

Work environment may contain loud noises and odors that may last for long periods or continually.
