vertically integrated real estate investment and operating platform
that owns, develops, and manages high‑quality assets across multiple U.S. markets. The company works with institutional and family office capital, operates across multiple legal entities, and is scaling rapidly as it brings more functions in‑house.
They are hiring a
Controller / Director of Accounting
to step into a senior leadership seat owning reporting, strengthening infrastructure, leading people, and partnering closely with executive leadership.

What you’ll own
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close across a multi‑entity real estate platform
Prepare and review GAAP‑compliant financial statements and investor reporting packages
Oversee property‑level accounting, including revenue recognition, accruals, and operating expenses
Manage inter‑company activity, consolidations, and eliminations
Establish and enhance accounting policies, internal controls, and documentation
Partner cross‑functionally with operations, property management, and asset management
Coordinate audits, tax providers, and lender reporting
Lead, mentor, and elevate a small, capable accounting team
Drive process improvement and system optimization as the portfolio continues to scale
Ideal candidate
Brings
6–10 years of progressive accounting experience , ideally in real estate or adjacent asset‑heavy environments
Has hands‑on experience with
property management accounting
and multi‑entity structures
Is strong in GAAP and understands how accounting supports real business decisions
Enjoys being hands‑on while stepping fully into a
leadership and review role
Thrives in a growth‑stage environment where structure is being built
Wants to
build a long‑term home in accounting leadership
and participate in the upside
Experience that’s helpful (not all required)
Real estate, student housing, or multifamily accounting background
Institutional investor reporting exposure
Experience with modern accounting and property management systems
CPA preferred, but not required
Location & compensation
Onsite role in Austin, Texas
Competitive base salary with bonus opportunity
