Job Summary The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non‑profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962. It provides strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity. With a staff of about 250 employees, including more than 120 analysts, CSIS addresses the evolving dynamics of international security.

Position Overview The Senior Fellow will serve as the senior analyst within the EST front office, working directly with the President of the Economic Security and Technology Department on high‑priority research initiatives that further EST and enterprise‑wide impact goals.

Key Responsibilities

Work directly on the President’s research priorities, including patriotic capital and national interest investing, U.S. economic and technology competitiveness, and international economic security issues.

Help with research design, authoring, and co‑authoring policy analyses and research reports for internal and external publications.

Conduct independent research projects that shape key policy debates.

Develop and deliver research briefings and presentations to government officials, private sector leaders, and other stakeholders.

Coordinate and mentor Associate Fellows, Research Assistants, and interns on the front office team.

Ensure delivery and quality of EST’s suite of integrative products such as the Tech Edge Report and country studies.

Assist with fund‑raising goals, including preparing proposals for project funding and writing grant reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Write in‑depth policy papers and publications related to the specified topics.

Conduct research for independent and collaborative projects.

Facilitate research projects and policy analysis, providing operational support and timely communication.

Synthesize large amounts of information and perform quantitative and qualitative analysis.

Serve as an influential voice on strategic capital, promoting EST’s expert analysis to stakeholders.

Represent CSIS at conferences, workshops, and public speaking engagements.

Conceive and lead events such as working groups, panels, and roundtables.

Identify potential grant projects and assist the President in developing robust research proposals.

Mentor research assistants and analysts.

Knowledge, Education, and Experience

Doctorate or equivalent in economics or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

6+ years of research and/or analysis experience.

Strong grasp of geopolitical and market movements.

Experience executing a research agenda and publishing in national and international media and academic journals.

Experience working in industry, government, or corporate strategy.

Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Self‑starter with proven project‑management experience.

Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills.

Sound judgment, entrepreneurial attitude, and creative outlook.

Compensation The salary band for this position is $100,000 to $200,000, commensurate with experience, and includes bonus potential based on performance.
