Job Description:
The activities will be assisting the head of the laboratory with maintaining colonies of transgenic mice, organization and analysis of data, and administrative tasks such as maintenance of supplies and chemicals. Proofreading and assistance with inventories will be required. Preparation of buffers and simple laboratory tasks will be necessary. Ability to work with others is essential.
Job Duties:
Breeding, genotyping of rodents and managing databases of mouse colonies
Administrative tasks such as purchase forms
Organization of slides, chemicals, and equipment databases
Proofreading papers prior to submission
Preparation of laboratory buffers and other standard laboratory preparations
Job Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in neuroscience-related field
Experience with mice/rodents as relates to research
Experience in Neuroscience research
Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Ability to learn and work with others in a laboratory setting
Background Investigation/Justice Center Review Requirements Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment. 2) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment.
