The posted compensation range of $55.95 - $65.91/ hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Job Duties:
Performs approved laboratory procedures utilizing a diverse variety of laboratory techniques and instrumentation, instrument maintenance and test performance checks, and compliance with transfusion services policies and procedures.
Performs quality control, quality assurance, and performance improvement indicators routinely in the department before patient results are reported.
Recognize critical values, life‑threatening laboratory results, inconsistencies, errors, and instrument malfunctions and take appropriate, timely corrective action.
Recognize specimen requirements and results interpretation criteria for neonates, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
Ensures laboratory results are accurate, and turnaround standards are met, holds over and uncollected specimens are managed, and specimen labeling procedures are compliant.
Assists management with the maintenance of appropriate policies, procedures and equipment, and inventory of supplies as requested.
Participates in professional growth by maintaining knowledge of laboratory‑specific policies and procedures and taking advantage of the available educational opportunities.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested in a professional manner.
Special skills requirements:
Working in different sections of the Laboratory such as Serology, Blood Bank, Phlebotomy/Information, Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Clinical Microscopy (Parasitology/ Urinalysis), and Bacteriology.
Collecting blood, receiving urine, stool, and other specimens, and processing them with proper adherence to quality assurance programs of the laboratory.
Examine secretions and excretions of the human body by various electronics, chemical, microscopic, bacteriologic, hematological, serologic, and immunologic procedures and techniques either manual or automated.
Evaluate and perform corrective actions using Quality Control specimens on various clinical instruments.
Operating the following laboratory equipment: Siemens Dimension RXL Max, Hematology Analyzer DxH 800, Abbott Architect Chemistry Analyzer, and laboratory information systems.
Must have a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Generalist) License from the California Department of Public Health.
Must have Medical Laboratory Scientist certification or International Medical Laboratory Scientist certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
Salary: $116,378.91-$137,096.96/year
Work Schedule: 40 hours/week
