Assistant Cook – Banner Health

Varied – Mon‑Fri, rotating weekends, 11 am–7:30 pm and holidays
Job Summary:
This position determines quantities and produces required food items based on production sheets, catering requests, prep sheets, and other approved sources.
Core Functions
Prepares and portions all cold food items in accordance with standardized recipes as indicated on production forecast and tally sheets.
Maintains par levels of food and supplies, orders and restocks items, rotates food stocks, checks freshness dates, and records over production and run‑outs.
Checks and logs food and equipment temperatures and reports any problems to the supervisor.
Keeps assigned work areas clean and orderly.
Assists in setting up prep carts and serves meals on patient tray line.
Department responsibility only, normally deals with internal customers following established procedures, recipes, and work routines under regular supervision.
Minimum Qualifications Ability to learn and follow established policy and procedures, read and understand written and verbal instruction, communicate effectively, and perform simple math calculations. Perform tasks within limited time frames, follow cleaning schedules, use chemicals safely, and adhere to food handling procedures, read thermometers, and follow safety requirements. Must learn food handling regulations and pass required certification tests. Must learn all onsite food service equipment including stoves, ovens, steam‑jacketed kettles, steam table, grill, fryer, slicer, beverage brewing and dispensing equipment, soft‑serve machine, food carts, dish racks, cleaning equipment, and hazardous chemicals used in cleaning and sanitation.
Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
