Purpose and Scope The teaching faculty’s primary responsibility is to provide learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college and the community. Adjunct faculty develop, teach, and assess courses within the curriculum, facilitating student learning.

Essential Job Functions

Teaches Art courses at a variety of times and locations.

Creates engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.

Submits required college reports and forms in a timely manner.

Utilizes a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.

Meets with and advises students either before or after class, by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.

Evaluates students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and informs students of their progress in a timely manner.

Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.

Attends meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.

Performs other reasonable related duties as assigned.

Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Open to diverse viewpoints and capable of working with a wide range of people.

Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies.

Physical Abilities Work is sedentary but may involve occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required.

Work Schedule and Conditions

Use of PC workstation, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment.

Interface with internal and external contacts as needed.

Work performed in a climate‑controlled classroom and/or lab environment with minimal safety hazards.

Hours vary by class time; instructors must meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside instruction.

Required Qualifications

MA or MFA in art, studio art, art education, or art history; or a master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in art, studio art, or art history.

Salary $55.44 per contact hour.
