JOB DESCRIPTION We are running a dynamic, people-powered campaign for U.S. Congress in San Diego. Our campaign is focused on affordability, healthcare, small business, civil rights, and delivering real results for working families. We are building a modern, aggressive digital operation to engage voters, raise money, and win.
Position Overview
The Digital Campaign Manager will lead and execute the campaign’s digital strategy across all platforms. This role is responsible for paid media, content strategy, email and SMS programs, online fundraising, analytics, and rapid response. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands‑on, comfortable managing a substantial digital budget, and experienced in high-stakes political campaigns.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
Develop and execute a comprehensive digital strategy aligned with campaign goals
Integrate digital efforts with communications, field, and finance teams
Manage a monthly digital budget of approximately $25,000–$30,000
Paid Media & Advertising
Plan, launch, optimize, and scale paid digital advertising (Meta, Google, YouTube, programmatic, etc.)
Oversee targeting, A/B testing, creative optimization, and compliance
Coordinate with vendors and consultants as needed
Content & Messaging
Oversee digital content calendar and messaging across platforms
Guide creative development for ads, videos, graphics, and rapid response
Ensure message discipline and brand consistency
Email, SMS & Fundraising
Manage email and SMS programs focused on persuasion, mobilization, and fundraising
Optimize donor acquisition and retention funnels
Collaborate with finance team to hit online fundraising goals
Analytics & Reporting
Track KPIs including engagement, conversion, cost-per-result, and ROAS
Provide regular performance reports and strategic recommendations
Use data to inform creative, targeting, and budget decisions
Rapid Response
Monitor news, opposition activity, and online discourse
Execute rapid‑response digital content when needed
Qualifications
3+ years of digital experience on political campaigns or advocacy organizations
Demonstrated success managing paid digital programs
Strong understanding of voter targeting, persuasion, and fundraising online
Experience managing six‑figure+ digital budgets preferred
Familiarity with campaign compliance and disclaimer requirements
Excellent writing, analytical, and organizational skills
Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure campaign environment
Preferred Skills
Experience in congressional or statewide races
Video‑first digital strategy experience
Knowledge of A/B testing and conversion optimization
Familiarity with tools such as NGP VAN, ActBlue, Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, and analytics platforms
