Summary Provides instruction for students that enables them to learn and demonstrate mastery of the Georgia Performance Standards.
Essential Duties
Provides content-related and appropriate instruction based on Fulton County’s curriculum
Provides a classroom environment that promotes active learning in the subject area
Exhibits knowledge of performance-based instruction and assessment
Communicates responsibly with students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership
Accounts for student attendance and punctuality
Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures
Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities
Collaborates effectively with partner teacher on all aspects of instruction in the Dual Immersion model
Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent
Works with parents/guardians in all aspects of the student’s educational program
Facilitates home‑school communication by holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications
Integrates appropriate technology into classroom instruction
Avoids behaviors that detract from staff morale
Participates in required additional training related to the Dual Immersion Model
Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator
Required Education Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited university.
Certification/Licensure Valid Georgia Teaching Certification in applicable content field (e.g., Early Childhood for Elementary required) or eligible to hold a valid Georgia Teaching Certificate.
Must have passed the ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) and Written Proficiency Test (WPT) at Advanced Level proficiency in a target language other than English.
Teacher for the English portion of day must hold ESOL certification/endorsement for a Dual Immersion model used as the delivery model for ESOL.
Experience Qualifications 0-1 year classroom experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proven communication and instructional strategies
Classroom management skills
Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to maintain 100% of instruction in the target language using Comprehensible Input (CI)
Working Conditions Classroom environment.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift and carry 30-50 pounds with assistance
Ability to push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds
May require stooping or crouching
