The IU Health North Operating Room (OR) supports surgical procedures for both pediatric and adult patient populations. General Surgery, Gynecology, Urology, Robotics, Ortho, Spine, Thoracic, Peripheral Vascular, Head & Neck, ENT, Breast, and Plastic Surgery services are provided. In this 16 room OR department, our nurses collaborate with the surgeons, anesthesia providers, anesthesia RNs, certified surgical technologists, and operating room assistants to ensure high quality patient care.
Nursing skills gained on this unit:
Communication skills as a part of the multi-disciplinary surgical care team
Use of state-of-the-art surgical equipment (1 st facility in Indiana to receive the Intuitive da Vinci SP robot)
Opportunity to learn the scrub role in the OR
In-depth knowledge of anatomy & physiology

Qualifications
Requires Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursingprogram.
Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
Other Advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
