Consumer Research Specialist / Research Data Specialist II

Job Posting: Consumer Research Specialist – California State Lottery Salary: $7,640 – $9,561 per month (minimum salary for new to state candidates). Final Filing Date: 1/9/2026 Responsibilities

Lead planning, development, and execution of consumer research studies that inform business and marketing strategy decisions. Collect and analyze consumer insights and analytics to evaluate key sales and marketing programs. Work closely with Lottery decision‑makers to provide actionable consumer insights. Qualifications

Current Research Data Specialist II exam required. Must be eligible or score must be current. Experience in planning and conducting complex consumer research studies. Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills. Minimum Requirements

Research Data Specialist II – Class Specification Research Data Specialist I – Class Specification Desirable Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in statistics, economics, data analysis, quantitative research, or psychology. Knowledge and experience with quantitative analysis on programs or initiatives. Experience with research design and execution of qualitative and quantitative methods. Expertise in data manipulation and analysis using Excel, SPSS, Power BI, R, or survey data analysis software. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to present data to technical and non‑technical audiences. Working Conditions

Schedule: 7:30 a‑5:30 p (business hours). Travel: Periodic travel may be required based on research needs. Office: Minimum two days required in headquarters office; hybrid telework available. Application Instructions
