We are seeking an enthusiastic & dedicated individual to serve as an
Assistant Teacher/Counselor (Residential Counselor)
in our Westwood, MA residential program. The role supports adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities, helping them lead safe, meaningful lives.
Position Details Location:
Westwood, MA Shift:
30 hours – Wednesday 1:00 pm‑10:00 pm, Friday 1:00 pm‑10:00 pm, Saturday 10:00 am‑1:00 pm Salary:
$35,366 per year
Essential Duties
Promote optimal health through routine, preventive and emergency care for residents.
Assist with direct hands‑on care: showering, toileting, shaving, brushing teeth, meal‑time assistance.
Ensure residential environments are safe, secure and free from harm.
Provide education, training, counseling and physical assistance to achieve Individual Service Plan (ISP) goals in domains such as functional academics, personal hygiene, social and leisure skills, communication, community mobility, self‑esteem, and money management.
Develop and present annual ISPs and semi‑annual assessments in consultation with staff and directors.
Provide transportation services to residents as necessary.
Communicate with families, guardians, funding sources, advocates and other stakeholders to ensure program consistency.
Perform case‑management duties: maintain confidential files, review cases, document activities, and attend meetings.
Requirements
Experience working with individuals with ID/DD.
High‑school diploma or GED (field experience preferred).
Passive fingerprint background check, CORI, DPPC, and driving background checks.
Valid driver’s license; MAP certification preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
