Base Pay Range

SPF-PFS Community Organizer Reporting
Director of Community Outreach Type / Level
Full-Time / Exempt Job Type
In Person Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with youth and adults and build grassroots “systems change” coalitions. Previous experience with youth organizing, community organizing, leadership development, and/or popular education is preferred. Ability to mentor, develop, and empower community youth. Strong organizational and communication skills. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to utilize Microsoft Access database and Microsoft Word preferred. Essential Duties
Help lead the development and coordination of youth and adults in our focused zip codes in northeast Detroit to build core leadership, youth organizing capacities, and substance use prevention development of members. Lead the development of working relationships with all parents, youth, and other organizations. Support campus organizing of college students at local Higher Ed institutions. Coordinate member participation in external actions and mobilizations. Support the development and implementation of campaigns. Assist the evaluator in conducting program evaluations and data gathering. Participate and facilitate workshops with youth and adults or training at conferences. Support Coalition Leadership teamwork as needed. Conditions Of Employment
Ability to work flexible hours. Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. Required Job Knowledge, Skill And Ability
Knowledge and/or experience regarding organizing and/or other community-based work. Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality of working information. Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work as a team member as well as independently. Education
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. Experience
One or more years of demonstrated experience in working/participating with community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, schools, and/or civic organizations. Demonstrated capacity to learn rapidly and to apply new skills in an office setting may be considered in lieu of specific experience. Licenses Or Certificates
Valid unrestricted Michigan Driver’s License. Expected Salary Range
The expected salary range for this position will be $30,000 - $35,000. About The Youth Connection
