Emergency Department Nurse Manager Department Description:
Wilson Health's Emergency Department is a 20-bed ED unit with 14 cardiac-monitored beds. The ED has received national recognition for exceptionally quick treatment release times for patients.
Job Summary The Emergency Department Health Unit Coordinator (HUC)/Patient Care Technician (PCT) prepares and compiles records in the nursing unit of a hospital facility and provides essential patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for the computer entry of patient information/registration and physician orders to ensure continuity of care.
Assist with the coordination of activities of the unit and ensure the necessary supplies are available to provide patient care.
Ensure open and timely communication with the patient, their significant others, and team members to ensure the occurrence of therapeutic interventions.
Under the direction of the RN/LPN, assist in meeting the physical and emotional needs of the patient on the assigned unit, which includes young–middle aged adults and geriatric patients.
Under the direction of the RN/LPN, carry out assigned treatments and procedures.
Provide care based on ethical concepts, respect for life, dignity, human worth, and the individuality of human beings.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Successfully completed an approved Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program; or three to six months of related hospital experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Ability to read and communicate effectively in English with strong interpersonal skills.
Current certification in Basic Life Support.
