What You’ll Do: As the Wellness Director, you’ll provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for our EnCompass wellness program, promoting physical, social, intellectual, spiritual, and nutritional well‑being for residents, while supporting community outreach and engagement. Your responsibilities include:
Lead, develop, and administer a comprehensive wellness program tailored to resident goals and abilities
Plan, implement, and evaluate activities such as fitness classes, mind‑body programs, wellness education, and resident assessments
Serve as Race Director for our annual “Spring in Your Step” 5K, coordinating logistics, volunteers, sponsorships, and safety measures
Collaborate with other Wellness Directors for events like the annual Kintura Olympics
Incorporate evidence-based practices and innovative programming that reflect resident interests and emerging trends
Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate wellness staff and contracted instructors
Provide ongoing training and support to ensure staff competence, safety, and resident satisfaction
Promote wellness programs through newsletters, calendars, digital platforms, and presentations
Partner with residents, families, and internal departments to ensure programs are accessible and meaningful
Attend new resident orientations and welcome residents to the Wellness Department
Safety, Quality & Resource Management:
Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance in program planning and facility operations
Monitor budget, equipment, and departmental resources
Conduct ongoing program evaluations and quality improvement initiatives
Requirements Required
Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Gerontology, Physical Education, Wellness, or related field (advanced degree or specialty certifications preferred)
Nationally accredited Group Fitness Instructor Certification
CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain promptly)
Experience working with older adults in senior living, healthcare, or community wellness settings
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency with computers and resident engagement software (e.g., Icon)
Must be able to speak, read, and write in English to effectively communicate and complete required tasks, including training and documentation
Preferred
Experience leading wellness programs in a senior living community
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
Budget and resource management experience
Ability to motivate and inspire residents and staff with professionalism and energy
