Registered Nurse-Senior (UTHP ADM Patient Services)
Job Description
Provides direct nursing care to patients in a healthcare facility. Responsible for preparing equipment and aiding physician during treatment and examination of patients. May lead or mentor lower level team members.
This role is a Non-clinical role with no direct patient care responsibilities. Focuses on providing clinical guidance, oversight of nursing staff, and educational support
This position supports the UTHP HOPD transition, including the establishment of the new Center for Brain Health and the development of the cardiology stress test program. The position will provide education, training support, and nursing oversight to LVNs in the clinics, focusing on quality and patient safety, as well as new clinical projects.
Responsibilities
Demonstrates advanced skills in the delivery of physical examinations of patients, performing complex medical testing and providing physician interpretations of results, consulting with physicians and implementing treatment plan; administers medications and injections as needed.
Ensures the clinic flow runs smoothly; works closely with assigned scheduler to ensure referrals, follow-up appointments, diagnostic tests are scheduled accordingly.
Triages patient calls and works closely with call center team members.
Assists and arranges for hospital admissions as needed.
Follows-up on diagnostic tests, labs and ensures they are reported to the medical provider.
Refers patients as needed to appropriate specialist as ordered by physician, consults and collaborates with other members of the health care team, schedules follow-up appointments, weekly check appointments, and procedure appointments.
Educates patients and family members.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Functions within the required nursing process as defined by the Texas Nurse Practice Act.
Supports the mission, vision and patient promise throughout all interactions.
Communicates effectively, written and verbally.
Analytical thinking – this role requires analyzing information and using logic to coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
Participates as an integral part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing the highest quality of care to the patient.
Meets all training and competency requirements.
Education
Associate’s degree is required
Experience
Five (5) years of professional nursing experience is required
Licenses/Certification
Current Texas RN license Required
CPR Certification Required
Required Skills
Five (5) years of professional nursing experience is required.
