Veterinary Technician Lead, Critical Care Registered Veterinary Technician OR Senior Veterinary Assistant Co-Lead – Critical Care – Overnight Shift / 3rd Shift
Salary Range:
$30‑$40 per hour with a $5.50 overnight differential.
About the role:
As a CCU Tech Lead, you will provide vital support to our veterinarians in ensuring the utmost care and comfort for our patients. You will manage and lead a team of veterinary professionals in our fast‑paced, dedicated team, partnering with another clinical lead to support that robust 24/7 team.
Responsibilities
Assist veterinarians during treatments and procedures.
Monitor critically ill or injured patients closely.
Collaborate with the team to ensure around-the-clock care and treatment coordination.
Offer compassionate care and support to patients and their owners.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
Assist with diagnostic procedures such as bloodwork and imaging.
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
Monitor and maintain medical equipment.
Communicate with pet owners regarding patient updates and treatment plans.
Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and provide emergency care as needed.
Serve as the liaison between leadership and staff for the department.
Maintain and improve department workflow and resolve issues.
Develop, maintain, and update training procedures for current and new staff.
Provide feedback for performance evaluations and counseling.
Manage day‑to‑day department flow.
Schedule
Full‑time, 4/10’s – includes one weekend shift per week.
Overnight shift.
Basic Required Qualifications
High school diploma.
RVT preferred; Senior Veterinary Assistant also considered.
5+ years of clinical experience in an ER/CCU setting.
Previous leadership experience preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, invoices, estimates, etc.
Maintain CA Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) – must obtain within 60 days of hire unless holding a valid CA‑RVT license.
