Position Summary The Awake Overnight Residential Counselor ensures the safety, well-being, and positive environment for youth and young adults during overnight shifts in a residential program. This role requires remaining awake and alert throughout the shift while providing support and guidance to residents.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and monitor youth overnight, ensuring safety and adherence to program guidelines.
Provide advocacy, referrals, crisis intervention, and supportive counseling as needed.
Orient new residents to program rules and expectations.
Assist residents in developing life skills, including cooking, socialization, and independent living preparation.
Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with staff.
Participate in staff meetings and contribute to a culturally sensitive environment.
Serve as a liaison between the program and community resources.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum 2 years of experience working with adolescents or young adults.
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Experience with homelessness, substance abuse, or related issues preferred.
Effective communication and crisis management skills.
