Assistant Project Manager / Project Engineer - Steel Construction
Location: Reno, NV
Base pay range: $70,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year.
Overview: A growing steel construction company is seeking a motivated Assistant Project Manager / Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of structural steel projects. This role is ideal for someone with 1-2 years of construction experience who is looking to develop into a full Project Manager. You will gain exposure to both field and office operations, work closely with senior leadership, and build a strong foundation in steel construction project management.
Key Responsibilities
Assist Project Managers with planning, coordinating, and executing steel construction projects.
Support project documentation, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and schedules.
Conduct site walks, track progress, and assist with field coordination.
Communicate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure timely project execution.
Help manage material procurement, delivery schedules, and logistics.
Assist with cost tracking, budget monitoring, and reporting.
Support quality control, safety compliance, and adherence to project specifications.
Participate in project meetings and prepare meeting minutes and follow-up actions.
Qualifications
1-2 years of experience in the construction industry (steel experience is a plus but not required).
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work in both field and office environments.
Eagerness to learn, take direction, and grow into a larger PM role.
Proficiency with construction software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, etc.) is a plus.
