What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
Develop and deliver peer/mentoring-focused support programs for individuals with behavioral health needs
Coach youth and young adults in self-advocacy and planning for reentry
Provide information about peer-focused programs and services to various stakeholders
Share personal recovery stories to inspire youth and support positive behaviors
Collaborate with young people on raising awareness of residents' rights
What is Required (Qualifications):
Four years of experience in a related field, or a Bachelor’s degree in social services
Two years of experience in a counseling role
Certification as a Peer Support Counselor from the Department of Health, or commitment to achieve certification within the first six months of employment
Ability to take action to learn and grow, and meet the needs of others
Experience working with communities of color and individuals from the LGBTQ community is beneficial
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
Experience adapting treatment and recovery materials to enhance cultural sensitivity
Experience working with individuals and families involved in the criminal justice system
Experience developing and delivering peer/mentoring-related training
Familiarity with community-based programs and resources for youth
