About the job 3252 Maintenance Technician III PAY RATE:

$24.00/hr

SHIFT:

The schedule will be 4 days during the normal work week (Tuesday-Friday starting at 11am), plus Saturday (6am start).

Start times are flexible (give or take an hour) and can be discussed with the manager upon starting.

MUST HAVE ON RESUME OR IN CHAT FEATURE ON JOB SEEKER PROFILE:

• Must have experience working/OK working in various temperatures (100, 0, and regular temperatures) as they will be working throughout the building.

• 3-5 years of experience working on Food service equipment/environment.

ROLE:

The technician is responsible for troubleshooting equipment issues and performing preventive maintenance on production equipment throughout the facility with limited supervision. The technician will also participate in 5S and Lean manufacturing activities, including material handling improvements, production line configuration, and safety procedures. The technician needs to learn industry-leading maintenance practices and methodologies to increase equipment safety, uptime, and performance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES As a maintenance worker, you must adhere to safety policies and procedures (OSHA, NEC, NFPA, USDA, FDA, etc.).

You will inspect and perform preventive maintenance tasks on production and process utility equipment to ensure quality, safety, and overall equipment reliability.

Diagnose and repair equipment deficiencies and failures (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic) and perform facility repairs as needed.

Use continuous improvement tools to improve equipment reliability (root cause analysis, failure mode analysis) and recommend preventive actions.

Work and train with OEM technicians during production equipment rebuilds, line moves, installations, setups, calibrations, and emergency repairs.

Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders, manage assigned planned work, unplanned failures, and work orders in a high‑paced, fluid environment.

Log work orders accurately in a CMMS to track maintenance and equipment performance metrics (labor, uptime, preventive maintenance compliance, MTTR, MTBF, part usage).

QUALIFICATIONS Experience Required: Three (3) plus years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting.

Experience troubleshooting mechanical systems, electrical components, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, material handling equipment, etc.

Preferred: 1-3 years of food processing maintenance experience; experience in a food processing environment; familiar with USDA, FDA, and SQF policies.

Education High School Diploma or GED.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations Required: Must provide own tools (diagnostic equipment and major tools provided by Sysco).

Preferred: Formal training in equipment maintenance repair, installation, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment is highly desired.

Moderate knowledge of OSHA safety regulations.

SKILLS

Moderate knowledge of environmental regulations.

Basic computer skills.

Moderate knowledge and skill in preventive maintenance inspections and repair.

Moderate knowledge and skill in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

Moderate knowledge and skill with a multi‑meter and infrared thermometer.

Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and processes.

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple work orders in a dynamic environment.

Ability to report equipment repair statuses and timeframes concisely and effectively.

Basic knowledge of PLC, VFD/VSD, and relay logic is preferred.

Moderate knowledge and skill in welding and cutting (gas, electric, MIG, TIG) is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS The job requires physical activity that includes sitting occasionally and frequently lifting heavy objects. The individual must have good hand and finger dexterity to handle wrenches, hand tools, and other shop equipment. They should also be able to push, pull, lift, carry, and grasp tools repetitively. Working conditions: Food processing environment with temperatures as low as 38°F. May involve wet, hot, extremely cold, and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, confined spaces. Non‑traditional business hours, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, on‑call. Travel may be required. Exposure to high places, fumes, airborne particles, moderate noise.
