Location: Chattanooga, TN
Responsibilities
Ensures that freight is moving from its original point to its final destination.
Exercising discretion and independent judgment in booking appropriate carriers, negotiating rates, and resolving problem loads.
Managing transportation arrangements from pre‑pickup through delivery.
Communicating with shippers, carriers, and team members.
Building and maintaining carrier relationships.
Serving the company’s customer base and advising carriers accordingly.
Using urgency to address issues such as claims, detention, OS&D, layovers, breakdowns, etc.
Maintaining proper updates on carriers assigned to RE Garrison’s brokerage phone line, directing calls to the correct person and acting as a resource to customers if appropriate.
Functions as a team; all Logistics Coordinators are responsible for any freight available on the brokerage board.
Expected to “Get the job done” by staying as late as necessary to achieve required results.
Other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
College degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a business‑related field preferred.
Previous customer service and/or logistics experience preferred.
Knowledge of the trucking industry a plus.
Preferred Skills
Ability to interact and communicate effectively over the phone, via e‑mail and face‑to‑face.
Capacity to recognize when action is necessary and to implement the required actions within a reasonable time.
Ability to prioritize workflow to use time effectively.
Mathematical calculation skills to compute transit times.
Competency in discretion and good judgment.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
