Field Technician – Level 2 (Low-Voltage / Security Systems)

Job Type Full-Time, On-Site Work Remotely: No Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Field Technician – Level 2 to join our skilled team of technicians, engineers, and project managers. This role is for a technician who already has solid field experience and is progressing toward mastery of the low-voltage security trade. This is not an entry-level role and not a position to learn the trade from scratch. The ideal candidate already understands core installation practices, works reliably and independently most of the time, and occasionally relies on guidance from a Level 3 or Lead Technician for complex scenarios. We hold our technicians to a higher standard. We invest heavily in training, tools, and long-term development, and we expect our technicians to actively invest in their growth as professionals. Technician Career Path Level 1 Technician: Entry-level, learning fundamentals under close supervision Level 2 Technician (This Role): Minimum 2–3 years of real-world field experience Capable of performing standard installations independently Reliable, consistent, and technically competent Requires occasional supervision or escalation support Level 3 Technician: Fully autonomous, executes complete projects independently Lead Technician: Level 3 capability plus system programming, networking proficiency, and technical leadership; primary conduit between Project Management and field staff Key Responsibilities Install, service, and maintain low-voltage security systems, including: Access Control systems Intrusion Detection systems CCTV / Video Surveillance systems PA systems, TeleData, and related low-voltage infrastructure Pull, terminate, label, and test cabling from control panels to field devices Wire doors for: Card readers Door position switches REX devices Electronic locks Install and configure field hardware such as: Card readers PIR motion sensors Cameras Speakers Troubleshoot system, device, and wiring issues in live environments Read and interpret drawings, layouts, and basic system documentation Work safely on ladders and active construction sites Communicate clearly with Project Managers, engineers, and fellow technicians Accurately document work performed and issues encountered Required Qualifications (Must-Have) Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in low-voltage and security systems Proven experience installing: Access Control Intrusion Detection CCTV systems Demonstrated ability to wire doors and install field hardware independently Proficiency with hand and power tools Experience working on ladders and construction sites Strong reliability, judgment, and work ethic Valid driver’s license Ability to work full-time on-site in Washington, DC Commitment to professional growth and skill development Preferred Qualifications 3+ years each of: Access Control experience Intrusion Detection experience CCTV experience PA systems experience Audio Visual experience Basic computer and system navigation skills Experience working in occupied or security-sensitive environments Ability to work autonomously Training & Professional Development Philosophy We are committed to developing technicians into what we call “Masters of the Trade.” We provide: Access to high-quality training programs and courses Financial investment in professional development and certifications We expect: Technicians to invest time to learn and grow A long-term commitment to applying that knowledge within our company for a mutually beneficial career.
