Responsibilities
H-E-B is looking for energetic and motivated Partners willing to work hard and have fun while making our Customers feel welcome. As a Customer Service Representative you will:
Provide a well‑stocked and well‑maintained department.
Stock and rotate products daily, maintain safety and sanitation standards.
Assist with inventory control—loads, unloads, moves product.
Organize, clean, and prepare the back area for the night crew and incoming trucks.
Organize merchandise on pallets to present the department.
Maintain standards in shrink, safety, inventory control, and sanitation.
Check shipments for out‑of‑date and damaged product to ensure freshness.
Build, stock, maintain, and take down store displays.
Perform duties of a Customer Service Assistant when needed.
Stocking
Stocks and rotates items as needed.
Assists with inventory control; loads, unloads, and moves product.
Organizes, cleans, and prepares back area for the night crew and incoming trucks.
Organizes merchandise on pallets.
Ensures integrity of shelf tags and signage; may create/prepare signage.
Maintains standards in shrink, safety, inventory control, and sanitation.
Checks shipments for out‑of‑date and damaged product.
Builds, stocks, maintains, and takes down store displays.
Performs the duties of Customer Service Assistant as needed.
Customer Service
Provides superior customer service.
Answers customer questions regarding products and assists them with selections; helps locate store merchandise.
Sales
Merchandises product effectively.
Uses suggestive selling techniques to meet customer needs and build department sales.
Food Safety & Sanitation
Cleans and sanitizes sales floor, display cases, prep areas, and equipment.
Properly handles and maintains operation of all equipment.
Complies with departmental SOPs and store operating procedures.
Additional Department‑Specific Responsibilities / Prerequisites
Beauty: Knowledge of beauty and cosmetic aids.
Drugstore / General Merchandise: Prepares tags and signs as needed.
Grocery: Organizes, cleans, and prepares back area; prepares tags and signs.
Texas Backyard: Passion for outdoors; ability to complete Green Thumb training.
Entertainment: Knowledge in audio/video; knowledge of specialty products, movies, music, electronics, video games.
Qualifications
Minimum age 18 (mandatory).
High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of Company Orientation and Safety Training (upon hire).
Strong customer service skills.
Communication and interpersonal skills.
Reading and writing skills.
Planning and organizing skills.
Function in a fast‑paced retail environment with detailed and precise tasks.
Work with customers, staying attentive to their needs.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs (varies by department); manage in excess of 30–135 lbs as departmental requirements.
Passion for outdoors (Texas Backyard), ability to lift 65 lbs for Texas Backyard and other departments.
Proficiency with suggestive selling and merchandising techniques.
Physical Requirements List of reach and lift criteria for various departments (details omitted for brevity).
