Job Summary
The Robot Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining robotic systems used in the steel manufacturing process. This role ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality production by loading materials, verifying program accuracy, monitoring robotic performance, and performing basic troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
Operate industrial robotic equipment used for welding, cutting, material handling, or fabrication of steel products
Load and unload steel materials into robotic cells safely and efficiently
Monitor robot operations to ensure quality, accuracy, and adherence to production standards
Perform routine inspections and basic preventive maintenance on robotic equipment
Identify and troubleshoot minor mechanical or programming issues; escalate complex issues to maintenance or engineering
Verify parts meet quality specifications using measuring tools and visual inspections
Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements
Maintain accurate production and quality documentation
Collaborate with supervisors, maintenance, and quality teams to improve efficiency and reduce downtime
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Previous experience operating industrial robots or automated machinery preferred
Experience in a steel or metal manufacturing environment strongly preferred
Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of automated systems
Ability to read blueprints, work instructions, and production schedules
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
Robotic operation and monitoring
Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving
Knowledge of manufacturing safety standards
Ability to use hand tools and measuring instruments
Dependable, team-oriented, and able to work independently
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
Comfortable working in a hot, noisy industrial environment
Steel manufacturing facility with automated robotic cells
