Responsible for the maintenance and technical support of automated and semi-automated manufacturing solutions for a high-volume consumer products application. Can lead other members of the team to ensure completion of necessary responsibilities. Primary Functions
Ensure all machinery, equipment, building structures and facilities are maintained and functioning properly. Performs maintenance on all manufacturing and facility equipment, such as mold presses, auxiliary equipment and miscellaneous plant equipment. Participates in the maintenance of the preventative maintenance program insuring optimum machine utilization. Recommend and lead innovative improvements to upgrade equipment and processes. Ensure accuracy of maintenance history records for all equipment. Interface with production when necessary to schedule equipment maintenance. Troubleshoot and repair both mechanical and electrical problems on equipment and provide timely short-term and long-term recommendations. Where applicable, provides timely and detailed information to management on equipment status, issues, corrective actions, and updates on activities that took place during the applicable shift. Shows proactive thinking in training and development of shift personnel to maximize efficiencies in the shift operation. Coordinates with production and tooling on all issues that are beyond the skill level of the shift team to ensure accurate communication of needs for repair and timeliness for completion. Establish an inventory system for equipment spare parts that meets the needs of the molding department, complete with order points, parts specification and cost controls. Perform maintenance tasks such as interfacing with the process control team and react to urgent requests that could impact production. Prioritize maintenance requests; distribute daily job assignments, review maintenance logs and daily supervisory responsibilities of the maintenance team. Perform root cause analysis on machine issues. Troubleshoot and modify PLC configurations to meet production needs, as applicable. Coordinate and fabricate any necessary tool and equipment that supports various departments in the facility. Assist in the training and development of Automation and Manufacturing Tech I. Assist with adherence to the preventative maintenance program that meets the molding/assembly department(s) performance goals. Where applicable, participate in cross-functional teams for the purchase of new equipment. Oversee the installation of various equipment, commission and complete customer sign-off process. Supports a quality first approach to daily tasks to provide the best product to our customers. Supports the QMS by adhering to the system requirements. Understands and follows plant safety rules. Helps to identify and eliminate any safety hazard or concern. Assists in monitoring quality of work output. Maintains compliance with company policy and procedures. Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly work area. Responsible for reporting any problems or concerns to direct Supervisor. Maintains good working relations with all other employees. Strives to have no conflicts with other employees. Requires regular attendance to perform essential elements as contained herein between the assigned start and end times for work. Other duties as assigned. Key Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. 5+ years’ experience in Automation in a manufacturing environment, responsible for sophisticated manufacturing and automation equipment. Detailed knowledge in PLC programming and electrical controls, as applicable. Detailed knowledge in the mechanical and design areas of automation with general machining capabilities, as applicable. Thorough familiarity with hydraulic function of manufacturing equipment. Thorough familiarity with Electrical/Electronic components of manufacturing equipment. Self‑motivated to learn and perform job tasks to meet or exceed customer and company expectations. Demonstrates the capacity to work at an efficient rate to meet production goals and standards. Effectively communicates with others both verbally and in writing. Ability to work 12‑hour shifts, as applicable. Physical Requirements
Requires up to 12 hours of standing/walking daily. Must be able to individually lift 45-50 lbs. and team lift upwards of 50-100 lbs. Must be able to individually push/pull 50 lbs. and push/pull upwards of 50-100 lbs. Must be able to bend/stoop/twist, crouch/squat, reach above and below shoulders Requires repetitive use of arm, wrist, and hand. Must be able to work with machinery and hand tools. Moderate exposure to heat, cold, and noise. Ability to wear required PPE including hearing protection, safety glasses and safety toe shoes.
